No. I have a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and over 600 hrs of clinical work. However, I do not currently hold a license with the state and instead offer coaching/counseling.
My entire practice is rooted in liberatory practices that come from anti-racist, anti-capitalist, and decolonized praxis. It is my goal to move away from western modalities that replicate systems of harm towards humans that are targets of oppression and marginalization. Through practices that dismantle oppressive systems I am aim to support clients through their healing and life journeys.
As part of my own decolonizing, anti-racist, and anti-capitalist journey I felt that to better serve my community I needed to divest from the mental health system that has historical and currently caused so much harm to oppressed people. After earning my master's degree I realized how the system I trying to enter did not allow me to serve my community in the way my community was asking me to show up. By divesting I am able to have a practice deeply rooted in Ancestral and community ties.
SOUL seeks to work outside of being exclusively within the capitalist monetary system. Monetary funds should not be a barrier to care. Putting trust in community to give what they can so there is an exchange that works for all is a core foundation of my practice. SOUL operates on the Green Bottle sliding scale method.
My services are offered both in-person and through telehealth. I believe in providing services in the community where I am needed. This includes in my own home, in client's homes, and through telehealth.
My own spiritual practices are rooted in Hoodoo, Rootwork, ATRs. I provide Ancestral spiritual work, somatic, and root workings that are based in liberation practices. My services are not religion specific and embody a wide range of knowledge from the world.
